Based on the international best-selling autobiography
of BAFTA award-winning writer Geoff Thompson, CLUBBED
delivers a knockout blow on 4 May as the brutal, bloody
and gruesome tale of the violent world of 80s clubland
arrives on DVD, courtesy of Route One Releasing.
Danny (Mel Raido - The Informers, He Kills Coppers),
a lonely factory worker, intimidated by life, is battered
and humiliated in front of his kids in a random act
of violence. Consumed by fear – the fear of confrontation,
the fear of speaking out and the fear of being ‘a
nobody’ in a tough environment, his already bleak
existence sinks further into the abyss. On the verge
of total breakdown he decides to fight back.
He meets a group of night-club doormen who take him
in and give him the confidence to stand his ground.
As he is drawn deeper into their world he becomes embroiled
with the local gangland boss, setting in motion a train
of events with bloody and brutal consequences. He must
now decide whether to let the fear keep him in his place
or step up and conquer it once and for all. For Danny,
this decision will alter his life forever.
With an all star British cast including Colin Salmon
(The Bank Job, Dr. Who) as Louis the head nightclub
door-man, Shaun Parkes (Moses Jones, Harley Street)
and Scot Williams (The Crew, Cape Wrath) as his crew
Rob and Sparky and Maxine Peake (Little Dorrit, The
Devil’s Whore) as Angela, Danny’s long-suffering
wife, CLUBBED certainly packs a punch.
This initially empowering but devastatingly emotional
and savagely gruesome journey will mash your senses
to a pulp when the DVD hits the shelves on 4 May.
